The workshop dedicated to the theme of the forms and specifications in digital format for the transmission of the documentation for the SEA and EIA procedures promoted by the Directorate-General for Environmental Assessment within the activities of the 2007-2013 National Operational Programme "Governance and System Actions" took place on April 12th 2012 at the premises of the Ministry of the Environment.

The initiative, which involved the Regional Directorates for Environmental Assessment, the General Direction for landscape, fine arts, architecture and contemporary art the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities and some of the developers of the projects subject to an EIA at national level, was promoted to the comparison between the work of the Ministry of the Environment - in collaboration with the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities (technical specifications for the digital format, forms) - and the experience in the field at regional level on operational tools to deal with the different phases of the environmental assessment (SEA, EIA) with the aim to share and harmonize the tools to simplify and standardize the process of environmental assessment at various levels (national, regional).

According to the programme, tools developed at national were first described by the Directorate-General for Environmental Assessment of the Ministry of the Environment and by the competent Directorate-General of the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Activities; afterwards, the state of the art of the experiences or ongoing activities at regional level for the standardization and simplification of procedures (PON GAS and Directions regional authorities) were illustrated.

The discussion on technical issues has provided useful input for the promotion of similar initiatives by the Directorate-General for the Environmental Assessment of the Ministry of the Environment for the sharing of experiences and the construction of shared tracks to deal with more effective and efficient environmental assessment procedures.
